Does anybody here have alligator gars, that are adult? Like 7+ feet? If so, post some pics, I'd love to see them.

I think your asking a question that would equal something like "Do you have pics of an alien in your basement ?" or "post pics of going out for a drink with Bigfoot and a chupacabra"

I had one around 4 foot, but not anymore,(Took care of a large one for a bit) and I only know of one other person with one.. he has had it for years and it is around 5 foot. He will not likely show up on this site....

agreed, most likeley every one who had em near there has either donated them to a zoo or something like that or they have either died!

Who died? The Keeper?! :D

But for real...

By all the pictures I saw on the internet about full-grown Gars....

...actually I don´t see any difference in meeting a Gar of that size or an Alligator.

Is anything known how dangerous the real big ones can be?

Well...compare yourself:

The 6 1/2 foot one I knew very well, we would actually have a baseball bat on hand and at least two people around if anyone was to get in the tank with it or come into close contact with it. These fish need to be treated as a dangerous animal when threatened in shallow water or if out of water..In deeper water they are rather docile just keep your hands away from their face and push them away gently....

Frankly though I never was worried about the Head or teeth rather my concern was the tail end and the scales.....I've been smacked in the Knee by a 5 foot Gator gar tail end and that sucker sent me flying out of a boat and swimming. These fish are very powerful and capable of inflicting massive pain in more ways than just their teeth. Their tail end and sharp scales need to be very respected..

the difference between gator gars and actual gators as far as being attacked and danger

well the main big difference is jaw power
:D
