First off I need to mention that without the sincere help from my great friend Bob (aka HareBall) these pikes would not be here today. I obtained these fish several years ago, off aquabid. Soon thereafter I had to move due to work, and could not take these to my new house. HareBall graciously accepted the challenge of caring for them for me until I could make further arrangements, as he knew very well how rare and difficult this species is to obtain. That was three years ago, and he still cares for them today. They are really his fish now, not mine.
That said, what you are looking at is a group of fully mature cobra pikes (Crenicichla sp. "Tapajos II"). There is one male and four females. I had a fifth female, but she has since passed. There was something not quite right about her in the first place. They are maintained in a 125-gallon tank, and have been co-habitating fairly well since the beginning. Yes, HareBall and I are both exploring the idea of getting them a new tank with A LOT more room. They eat pellets almost exclusively and once in a while I will buy some live feeders to give them a treat.
Enough talking........I think the photos (taken by me today) will explain the rest. Enjoy!!
