I bought six discus from a local breeder yesterday. They are about 3 inch. They are still white, greyisch, but you can already see the stripes on the body and the colors on the fins. What age or size do they have to be to get the full adult coloration? I have seen them smaller with coloration, but then the fish themselfs didn't look that healty.

Ok. But is sometimes see discus in lfs wich are only two inch and have colors already. Is that done with hormons or something then?

I will get pictures as soon as they are brave enough to come from between the leaves.

I don't now the colors. They come from different nestings and diffirent color morphs crossings. All of them have the striped markings and bleu fins. Two of them are getting orange specles aswell.

Generally yes...hormones are still very commonly used in discus found in LFS. Granted, there are some types that will have an orange/red coloration at 2-2.5", but that is just a general color....not a full blown pattern, etc. When hormones are used, they have full color and pattern. Usually a good sign of hormone usage.
