Just wondering.... would 2 adult male rays kept together , show aggression to each other once they're old enough to start breeding? Specifically, 1 leo male, 1 marbled motoro male, and no females at all.

If you scroll down a couple threads you will see a thread about Leos and how they seem to be more aggressive. It may answer some of your questions

from what i have found lately mature males will fight with mature males and mature females will fight with mature females

So far so good for my two males.

I was hoping they would only become aggressive if there were rays of opposite sex in the tank. Since these two rays were of same sex, I was hoping they wouldn't fight... bad assumption?

Hmmm. I'd like more info on this as well as I've been considering getting two to house together and had been thinking to either go two males or two females since I didn't want to worry about having to separate a pair due to an overly zealous male wanting to rape the poor female constantly....

So two rays of the same sex are likely to squabble then?

my 2 females the same size and have been kept in the same tank since new born pups fight like crazy now they didnt used to fight and still only fight at food time

they go up into mid air belly to belly both get a firm grip on each others disk like they are breeding if you didnt know it was 2 female you would expect pups in a few months

i have not seen any bad bite marks like a male biting a female to its still ok

I find leos to be my most aggresive ray and then my marbles so I'm thinking these 2 would beat the crap out of each other eventually. I've never had a problem keeping two female rays together yet but I've never tried it long term. I usually put my imature males with females when I want to give them a break and all seems well.
