I have two male cichlids polleni 6inch and male convict about
3 inch and was wondering if I could add them with African
cichlids??

What type of africans are you considering?

Are you talking about Paratilapia Polleni? I thought they got bigger than that. I never kept them though so I do not know there temperament. I see you are interested in mixing some new worlds with africans as am I.

I think a good thread would be to gather data on convicts and africans. It seems quite common for people to keep a stray convict in african tanks. I wonder what the dynamics of that are, do the convicts hold there own, are they bullied, or are can they be dominant.

My goal would be to find a way to mix some medium to large size ca/sa with african mbuna colonies as I think that would be a great dynamic if it is possible. A good suitor would be a cuban cichlid, they only reach 10 inches, I wonder how they would fare in a full grown mbuna tank. I read of people keeping jack dempseys with mbunas. if thats possible then many of the species of cas that I like would be able to handle the mbuna aggression but I'd like to challenge the status quo by adding more aggressive type ca's.

I apologize for getting off topic however, i wonder what a 200 gallon tank with a colony of kenyi and auratus and a cuban, salvini, convict, jack dempsey, and a female trimac or red terror would do.

I've kept a pollen with haps and peacocks over the last 2 years. It worked until the polleni started using his mass to dominate anyone he wanted to through around. I believe a member named S Steve_C tried it too, not sure of his outcome.
