Hello everyone, I am new to MFK. I recently purchased a blue acara, but now that he has grown some and more colors have come out, I believe he is a gt/acara hybrid. He currently shares a 40 gallon breeder with a male swordtail and his harem. My question is, will he stay acara sized or grow to gt adult size? Thank you.

Agree. GTs vary in size to begin with and a hybrid with a somewhat smaller fish muddies things further. Was it supposed to be a stamdard blue acara or electric blue?

Can you get a photo?
I'm curious to what gives you the impression its a hybrid.
Since they are both from the genus Andinoacara which has 9 species, and they look sort of similar (especially when sub-adults).
Below Andinoacara coerleopunctatus (sometimes sold as the Panamanian or Costa Rican green terror, or Central American Blue Acara.
If you are talking about the Electric Blue Acara, I believe this is a man induced (line bred) version, so parts of any spawn may contain all kinds of versions (or aberrations)

Looks like a standard Andinoacara pulcher (Blue Acara) to me. Only time will tell if crossed with a GT, due to it's final adult size.
GTs and BAs are so close in looks, size being the real difference.

Green terrors and blue acaras get around the same size so I wouldn't go off of adult size too much. I have seen these fabled 7-8 inch blue acaras in person, they tend to just get longer and stop growing sideways after a certain point.
