This might be a stupid question since I already have BABIES that are doing fine in the tank...
but
can adult bluegill & redear sunfish be in a tropical tank? 78~80F

I just caught around 7 and was surprised to catch a redear sunfish(first time). The 2 fish that I decided to place in the tank is a 4" redear & 6" bluegill. They are kinda swimming funny and having their head down to the bottom of the tank, but will they be fine soon? I think I touched them too much right now when I was deciding which ones to put in the tank or pond..(and i don't have those stress zymes currently)

They can handle tropical temps just fine, but higher temps contain less dissolved oxygen so it's best to have plenty of water turnover in that situation.

sorry what's turnover?

wolf3101 told me that the surface aggitation the spraybar in my XP3 pointed up will get alot of oxygen in the water..for all the fish and bio media!!
or did i read it wrong..?

That's also correct.

Turnover is the rate the water in your tank is being pulled through your filters and other water circulation items.
For instance, if the flow rate on your filter is 40 gallons per hour (actual, not estimated) and you have a 40g tank it is said that your water is being turned over once per hour because the filter is pulling in and pumping out 40 gallons of water every hour. If you had an 80gph filter on that same tank it would be turning it over twice per hour (40x2=80).
I usually aim for at least 10 times per hour but just about everyone aims for at LEAST 4.
Aiming your outputs at the surface will definately help, but obviously the faster your filter is pumping water out the more effective it will be.

Oh ok!

hey one of the bluegill has like full black eyes..or dark eyes..
while others have a white iris around the black eye..

is the dark eyed one gonna dye?

and i have light colored ones and dark colored bluegill but is it because of health/stress?

oh so it's like an asian bluegill and amerian bluegill kinda thing?lol
so you're saying it's genetics right? and not health!!

hey shadowbass, am i gonna get ALOT of oxygen in the tank by having the spraybar pointed upwards?(it's not straightup but at an 40degree angle).
the bio media and big fish won't compete for oxygen will they?
