Adult TSN tankmates

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've never combined such fish together so no 1st hand experience (except when the eels were too big to swallow for small TSN growouts). I'd say it's a gamble that may or may not pay off long term. Spiny eels are of course noodle shaped but they are smart, weaselly, and prickly and may earn to stay away from the TSN. True eels seem dull in wits in comparison.

As much as i have always wanted a tsn maybe i will pass and go with tig, juruense and some other similar sized cats. Think this sounds better?

TSN will be more “fun” imo… esp. in a pond. Will come right up to hand feed once it grows a bit.

Agree with Russ that Brachyplatystoma are either too skittish or too primitive and don't interact much with a keeper, while TSN and RTC etc do.

I personally wouldn't house easy-to-swallow eels with a TSN unless peers told me from their experience 100% that TSN wouldn't do it in the long term / for life (decades). And yes, in general, TSN are voracious predators and even if well fed cannot be 100% trusted with swallowable tank mates.

Thank you. Going to pass on one for the community pond. Will do tig, jurense and a few others

also upgrading my aba aba to probably a 12x4.5x4. Tempted to add a tsn to that but probably won’t
