does anyone use an "advantage" bead filter on their aquarium as a solo filter? (or pond)

the site says it can filter particles down to 27 micron, that's what some filter socks do. i wanted to hear from some people using them or any other bead filters as their solo filter. mainly, if you satisfied with the clarity or not?

this appears to be the best bead filter on the market...

I was also sold by that same salesman's pitch. A little more costly, but... blah blah...
However, I am very impressed by how clear the pond is- no green water, great flow and easy maintenance (apparently). It was also a breeze to set up, and as I am all thumbs this was much appreciated.
Have a look at the photos:

ps: go down to the pool or jacuzzi shop and get some of the 2" flexible PVC pipe- wow, makes plumbing sooooo much easier, and you can get nice smooth bends that won't restrict water flow as much as the usual harsh elbow joints.

thanks for the link!

yeah good tip, i intended to do that too.

i don't think there's anything in tos about bumping... is a day too quick??? how long would you wait to bump, i thought once a day was pretty standard?

That is supposed to be a very good bead filter. On our koi pond, we installed the bead filters from these guys: http://tsekoi.com/filters/advanced_bead.html

Same basic concept. They work great. And with a good blower, they are a breeze to flush out an clean. I don't think I'd ever build another pond without a bead filter. For a fish tank though, I think it's a bit overkill unless you're running a huge tank (1000g+) with a massive bio load.

:D that's the plan! would you be happy with that clarity in a tank?

*edit: is it your solo filter or do you have a prefilter too?
