What is the advantages of owning Clown Loaches, I have 75g with 12" oscar and a pleco. To me there seems to be a surg in C/L popularity, I personally dont like them but if they help out my tank in anyway( besides snails) i'll invest in them.

What's not to like about Clown Loaches? They have great personalities. They're great to watch in large schools.

What species is your pleco? Your tank may well be overstocked if your pleco turns out to be one of those large species especially if you plan to add a group of clown loaches.

On the other hand, I personally do not like the idea of others utilizing loaches to eat snails. The abundance of snails is greatly influenced by the amount of foods they get in their tank especially when the owner has a habit of overfeeding his fish. They can be reduced easily by controlling the amount of foods you give your fish without resorting to other means that could even harm your fish.

Loaches grow slow so buy a size that won't become a feeder for your oscar. BTW This is a great excuse to buy another tank!

Cl's are great to watch in large schools and they have ravenous appetites.. So think big when you get your next tank......

Ahh...A clown pleco shouldn't be a problem.:)

Its not bad to have that be a plus in owning loaches, but definently shouldn't be the sole purpose. Also depends on what type of snail you are wanting to control. Snails are a good treat for Loaches, but not as a sole diet. Well ballanced diet is the way to go.

They aren't the best bottom feeders, but are one of the coolest fish you will own. Get a schoal of atleast 6 and you will never be bored. Just be ware that they do love to hide, so make sure your decorations don't have any tight places they can fit in. They will get in there.;)
