Ok so I am looking at a tank on cl, the dimensions are 72x30x36. Odd dimensions right? Well here is the kicker, it has a center overflow, not on the back wall but right in the middle of the tank. At first that was enough for me to pass on the tank for a freshwater setup. It was originally a reef tank. But then I thought it might look cool to have as a room divider and have a big arowana swimming around the overflow. It will be a growout for my monsters. I will eventually be getting an 8x4 footprint, but right now a growout for my young monsters. so what does everyone think? what would you do with a tank like this?

Yeah, that's kind of what I was thinking, maybe do it planted to make the overflow a little less obvious, but getting lights to grow plants in a 36" tall tank will be no simple task... but I think it would look great

you could always do away with the overflow and plug the hole. i would die for a tank with those dimensions.

Haven't considered that. Thanks creepyoldguy, wow that sounds like I am talking trash to your face, but no sincerely thank you. That opened up more possibilities for me

yea plug the hole if you dont like it :)
that is a very sweet deminsion. great monster tank

^That was what I was gonna suggest (getting a rubber cork/stopper), if you decided not to do it as a grow out tank. I just received a 90 gallon with a overflow for free, and I plan to just plug the hole as I only have HOB filtration.

So you're saying this tank has the overflow in the front glass, right in the center? If so, that is odd, I've never seen a tank like that and don't understand it either.
