So a week or so back I picked up a wild caught Baby Black Arowna View media item 50770
Sorry for the crappy photo but the 90 gallon growout tank he is in needs a serious buffing out. He'll be in the 90 for a few months until he moves into my 330. A few questions that I have are?

1. I'm currently feeding him guppies and might since to worm because the tank is to large for him to properly hunt in. He's taking down like a guppy a week.

2. When would you guys recommend I introduce tank mates and if so would you suggest.

Tank mates should probably be kept to a minimum for now, he's very delicate at that size. Once he gets 7-8 inches or so, he should be good with non-aggressive tankmates.

As for food, I'd go ahead and try to get him on pellets. If he doesn't take pellets, offer him freeze dried krill. I've not met a top feeder who refused freeze dried krill lol. Once he's eating the krill, it'll be easy to transition him to pellets. If he has trouble finding the food, you could add a feeding ring somewhere on the surface of the water. This would prevent the food from going all over. He'd learn quickly to get his food from there.

In the long run, prepared foods will be much cheaper and healthier for your new pet.

Thanks for the advice. I have some krill but i was today it could be to hard for his young stomach. What I'll do is break a few pieces up and try and feed it to him tonight.

Try soaking it in a cup of tank water for ten minutes or so before giving it to him, too. That'll really soften it up.

Good luck!

My babies have always taken freeze dried bloodworms, not the most nutritional but good for picky eaters. Anything small and moving, like large ants(as long as they haven't come in contact with bug spray), fruit flies or worms, should get whacked.

My little guys took Hikari sticks first intro. what i did was soak it down for a few minutes prior to feeding. They also take Krill, Freeze dried black worms and blood worms haven't tried live on them since there taking all dry.

Thanks for the advice guys .... He's done to four guppies so I'll get him so worms this weekend.

What tank mates do you have for your dragon.
