So I posted this already in a different form and they said it belongs here. I'm still trying to get the hang of things. So I bought an ebjd and I already have to JD but from what I read that they are alot different. Who would've known. Anyways follow this fourm if you want to help a newbie with many many questions. Starting out with what things in specific do I need to do to make sure that my little ebjd survives

keep up tank maintenance, have clean pristine water condition/parameters, keep them well fed & provide plenty of
caves and the sorts for the fish to hide in. when you make or provide hiding spots make sure some are small so the
smaller fish can go in and out and hide but the bigger fish cant.

Like I said on the other one, water changes.

water changes alone wont keep a fish safe from another fish's aggression/aggressive behavior.

that's why I had to keep him separated. I put him with the other fish and he got picked on so I had to divide my tank. I know about doing water changes but aside from that is there anything that needs to be done that is tilered to the ebjd alone? any fish that's smaller in size will need hiding spaces and needs to be protected from bullying that's just common knowledge same with the water changes. I guess they are just more sensitive to everything like random illness I suspect

proper tank setup, maintenance, wc will result in high quality pristine water conditions and parameters
keeping the fish healthy. there's no such thing as a "random" illness. if something happened there's a
cause/reason for it.

then you should have no problems since you already put up a divider to separate the two fish.

Think what the OP ment by random is an illness that did not seem to be present and will first be seen/ only seen in the EBJD. And to this point I agree. many people have problems with EBJD getting "random" illnesses but good water quality/quarantine can help limit and prevent such illnesses
