ok, so among my other monsters i decided i wanted a clown knife ... and of course, my usual timing ... NOONE in the city had one. so i had to order him, and he came in today!!!
they told me he would probably be small, but i didnt realize they meant to say TINY ... he still has his tiger stripes, and no circles. maybe 3"- 3 1/2"

anyhow, he needs to grow, and he needs to grow fast! so he can go in with his future tank mates!
whats the best way to pump one of these guys up safely?
thanks! pics soon i hope

Variety of high protein foods will do it for sure!

Mine grew large on earthworms, and tadpoles....
He eats 5-6 large earthworms at a time now.....

Depending on weather or not it'll eat prepared/frozen foods will depend on what you feed it. If it won't accept anything dead or prepared, don't panic. They usually dont until you train them too. Try that stuff first. If it doesn't work, Get a separate 10 gal or so to quarantine and gut load feeder guppies/ghost shrimp. Once it hits around 7 inches, you can try the frozen silversides, market shrimp, beefheart, earthworms, etc. From there, they'll usually accept sinking pellets. Good luck with your new baby! :)

teach him to eat frozen food or pellets at a young age so u can afford to feed him a lot everyday. plus throw him in a huge tank/pond....mine grew to 40'' in 4 years!

you have to consider the attitude of your CK most CKs are shy and tend to eat only when their really hungry(some even starve to death) anyways use live foods like baby shrimps just live them in the tank next is guppies and so on always leave its tank with a live food and as your ck grows the food size should follow(not by quantity). best if hes the only one in the tank so that there no possibility of over feeding it self. mine grew 2 1/2 inch in 5 weeks.
