I'm looking to purchase a tank over 300 gallons soon. I would really like it to be closer to 500 gallons 6-8 feet long and 30-36 inches wide. I'm still deciding on exact deminsions but wanted some advice on the best place to get something like this. I have thought about building it, but this will be in my living room and I want show quality. Where would be a good place to start and how much should I be looking to spend. Thanks!

I got my 8x4x3 with a stand plumbed etc and toughened glass for 3000$ AUD, should be cheaper for you, cant really help with where to get it from.

I would not build it yourself, theres a lot of pressure in there, one mistake and it pops. Had this happen and its not very nice lol.

Start off on craigslist its a hit or miss there can find some great tanks on there but if ur looking for show quality then the question is how deep will ur pocket go to get show quality. I personally for a 300 gallon glass with filter tank and stand wouldnt spend over 1000 -1200 i bought my 450 gallon off cl for 700$

450 gallon aquariun. 2x 300 gallon wet/dry filters with 2 Fluval fx5.
stock:
1x male 12 inch Frontosa, 4x13-19 inch florida gars,12inch Longnose gar,6 inch motoro stingray,9 inch delhezi ,7 inch texas cichlid,15 inch tiretrack eel,16inch clown knife, 3x 14-17 inch hybrid peacock bass! :cool-1::cool-1::headbang2:headbang2

Build your own. I know plywood builds you can kick and their fine. Kick a glass tank and bam. Plus its cheaper and you can make the dementions YOU WANT.

Yeah man, I've been looking on craigslist almost every day for about a year now for a big tank. The only tank I've ever seen that fits what I was was a 550 gallon for $300! But by the time I saw it and called it was gone.....

not true about glass tanks!! ive kicked mine before dogs even ran into one and its still standing!!!

also with plywood wont it be more-same $$ for a small tank? my understanding is ply is only cheaper if you go big big? same with fiber glass.

I have actually been doing research on building one and it does seem that i will be spending close to the same moneys if I build.

Owch jus keep trying at it.if nt go with glasscages.com

Damn thats an amazing price for a 450. I bought all my stuff brand new from fishtankfactory. paid around 3 grand for a 360 drilled/temperred glass, black mdf stand, 125 gallon sump, and truck rental/gas to california and back.

You could look into the Marineland Deep Dimension series tanks. They are all 36 inches deep. Drs Foster & Smith carries them, although they can be pricey. If you are looking into acrylic I would give Midwest Custom Aquariums a call. I have a custom made 8 ft long tank from them and the quality is top notch and their customer service is amazing. Their prices are very competitive as well.
Good luck with whatever you choose to do.
