O.k. here's the deal, Have a 110g aquarium that the wife brought home bout a year ago and has been in storage. The top 6" of silicone on all four corners is very hard. Below that it seems normal. No clue as to the brand of tank or age, guessing is quite old as glass is at least half inch thick and weighs ALOT more than my 125 does. Any one had this problem? I've never had water in tank and no idea how long it sat empty before we got it. Did silicone harden around top of tank from previous owners running low water level? Is it likely to leak? Also there is a very small chip in glass on front panel. Wouldn't think it should be to much of a problem as glass is so thick and chip is so small. But don't know??? Know the logical answer is going to be reseal the tank, not sure want to put the work into it as have never attempted it and would constantly be paranoid about my seal job eventually leaking. Would almost rather dump it and spend the money on a new tank. Need to do something tho as this is wife's "dream" tank and want to make mama happy...... What would you do?:help2:

I'd say Test fill it and see how it goes. If it leaks at the top it gives you 3 options
1. Re-seal it. I'm sure it can't be that hard tho I have yet to do it myself.
2. Run it as a Paludarium.
3. Sell/trade on Craigslist.

Ps. GO NEBRASKA. I'm originally from Lincoln =)

if you test fill and it doesnt leak theres still no telling how long before it will....i would go ahead and reseal it...its not that hard to do....heres a link to a how to on it...you can google it or check out more on youtube but like i said its not that bad.. i resealed a 180g by myself and was succesful.
good luck
