I'm new to cichlids, I've never had much luck with them or interest but that was before I started trying my hands at central and SA cichlids. I have a 125g with a couple dats, a blue texas, silver dollars, and a ghost knife. I'm looking to add something new like a Paratheraps Zonatus or something with low agression levels.

zonatus can be pretty aggressive, but is a very beautiful fish.

Are you sure I read a couple articles on them and people have said from personal experience they're only agressive when breeding.

I have kept them before. They can be murderous at times. The only fish in the paratheraps/vieja complex that exceeds their aggression is Fenestratus.

blue texas? pics? escondido?

Never had the pleasure of keeping a Paratheraps Zonatus but most of ones I seen were very docile. I also seen a few that were down right nasty. If you want one for a community tank, get one with a docile temperament and hope he/she stays that way.

i believe that he meant texas-cyano, the real blue texas is called green while the silver texas is called blue:ROFL:
