Wanted to start up a 180 gallon tank with juvenile Vieja such as Syns, Melanarus and Bifasciatus. What else could I add just for a little variety? Could I put something like a Mota or a Jag? Maybe Salvini or Jack Dempsey? Please offer any opinions. Also what about my choice of Vieja?

It it's a 6' tank then sure. I would recommend a p. loisellie for some nice color, and they aren't crazy aggressive. I keep mine w/ a syn in a 150g w/ no aggression issues.

I keep a lyonsi in with my vieja...I've had no problems. I tried a super aggressice severum in with them too, but that didn't work. The sev was getting outcompeted for food. Too slow.

I think if you gonna add any parachromis, maybe have the vieja bigger than them.also I would add the more aggressive fish later, giving the others a head start

Good advice. Im gonna start by trying to get the Vieja Im interested in first. Unfortunately COTA and Cich Connection don't have them in stock right now.
