ok so here is the deal! I have a nice zz male flowerhorn about 4 inches now....I just got another tank (60 gal) from a friend and am wanting to make it a central or south american cichlid tank....now the tank from my buddy came with a powerhead and a nice fluval 305 .... In my flowerhorn tank I have a penguin biowheel 350 and a topfin 60.....Should I use the fluval in my FH tank or do you guys think the other two filters will be fine for just one FH in a 55 gal...and just use the fluval for the 60 gal cause it will have more than just one fish (about 5 or 6 fish)??????? Please let me know...thanks guys!

i say if your keeping 5-6 cichlids in your other tank...then use the fluval for that tank and leave the other 2 filters for your FH.

Canister is better for bio filtration, and the hang ons are better for water turn over and mechanical filtration. So I would say fluval for the tank with more fish.

:iagree:

Just so you know I used to have a 350 and a Top Fin 60 on my 55g with my 10-12in Red Devil. It worked for a while, but you may eventually want to replace your TF60 with another 350. After about 6 months it just didn't turn the water that it did when it was new. With a fish that size it becomes obvious rather quick when one of the filters isn't working properly.

yeah man...I have a little 4 inch FH in there right now and they work fine but when I had a 12 inch oscar in there and a 14 inch pleco these filters were not good enough at all.....Why I wonder???I mean both of these HOB filters are rated for 70 gallons...wel TF 60 is 55 but still...I dont get it
