so i just added a 6 inch female dovii to my tank that has a 10 inch male dovii in it. at first they starting mouth fighting a lot and of coarse the male won and is now chasing and biting the female all over the place. ive got a huge cave of lava rocks that i built for her to go in that he cannot. my question is will this fighting go on for ever? are they just not a compatible pair? or is this normal? or just a dominance thing that will pass? thanks in advance. any tips will be appreciated.

put a divider in the tank so she doesnt have to stay in the cave at all times. then give a week and try to remove the divider if that still doesnt work then there not going to get along but if your just looking to breed them they can spawn through the divider.

You have to wait until their breeding cycles are matched up for it to be safe for her.

Basically, he's always ready, but she has to produce eggs, etc. If she's not ready to go he'll continuously pester her.....possibly to death.

diy barrier make it with a hole big enough for the female to get through, but to small for the male.

ya better yet do what he said^^

what is a good material to use for a divider? because i have a plexiglass divider in there right now and the male looks like he might break it very soon. he will not stop trying to attack her.
