Hi everyone,

Just wanted to get some advice/opinions on a bit of a situation I have.

I had been growing out an Asian Arowana and two Black diamond hybrid rays in a 4x2 (120 gallon) aquarium before putting them into a 300 gallon with some other large fish.
At this point the rays had a disc size of approximately 6" and the arowana was sitting around 14" in length.
These fish were raised together for a long time.

I came home one day to one of my rays being really beat up. I had never seen any tank aggression before and I wasn't sure if the one ray was the culprit or the arowana.
To be on the safe side I put in a piece of light diffuser 6" off the bottom that stretched just over 3/4 the length of the tank to provide some cover for the rays.

The ray began to heal up over the course of a few weeks and was looking good. I returned one evening after work to find one ray completely destroyed and the other ray in the Arowana's mouth !!!
Unfortunately after moving the ray it only lived for a few days.

What I'm concerned about now is adding the arowana to the big tank as there's rays in there also. The rays are like 12" in diameter and hold their own really well but I'm just really paranoid now.

Love this arowana and I really want him to go into the community aquarium but I'm wondering if I should pack his bags and sell/trade him? I'm thinking it was a territory issue that just sparked in the arowana being only in a 120gallon.

What would you guys do?
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Man, I’ve never seen aro do such things especially to a ray. I’m sure the tank size had something to do with it. Never had this issue hope others chime in and give you some solid advice.
