We have recently upgraded our tank from a 150l to 450l and wanting to get some new fish.
We have a blood parrot cichlid, frontosa, birchir, clown loach x 3, a few Malawi cichlids, cuckoo catfish (supposedly breeding pair), ruby shark and just gave away out albino frog because i found 2 new malawi in the past (days after buying) and the birchir in his mouth trying to suffocate them haha.

So quite a mix!
With having the birchir we are wanting to get rid of the smaller fish and get some new big ones so it doesnt eat them when it grow. I like large colourful fish. Iv seen a few south american fish that i like but could do with some advice and open to suggestions. I like jack dempseys, oscars etc

Im wanting to keep the parrot, fontosa, birchir, catfish and POSSIBLY the clown loach depending on what other fish people may suggest. The only aggressive one out of those is the parrott sometimes towards the frontosa.

Thanks in advance! :)

Welcome aboard :)

Tbh I wouldn't recommend a Oscar due to what you have already and the bioload Oscars produce. What specie of Bichir do you have?

Im not sure the man didnt say i had a look and could be a delhezi or endlicherri

Looks like and endli to me but I’m pretty new to pollies. J jaws7777 can you check out the picture and confirm what bichir that is?

It's a juvenile Endli which will eat anything that can fit in its mouth and that is the case with all of the poly species. From personal experience the Endli and Ornate Bichir were the most aggressive of the ones I've kept.

Thats a nice endlicheri. Tbh i think your maxed out. Thst endli is a baby and depending on what type of cat and how many loaches you have i'd just leave it be.

What size are the loaches ? Endlicheri grow pretty fast and loaches grow slow. Though the endli isnt aggressive it will eat what can fit in its mouth.

Thanks for your replies

Yeh thats what the bloke had said about fitting anything into its mouth, we have one large loach and 2 small so i think we will need to get rid of them or move them to another tank when it starts to grow. The catfish are cuckcoo and a good size so i hope they will be safe.

Must have replied at the same time lol

No offense but that sounds like quite a lot of stock for a 120G / 450L tank as it is... so im guessing your fish must still be quite young...

Once they grow up a bit more i have a feeling you'll probably need to further thin out your stock rather than add to it...
