Advice on Grammodes?

Well, after some help I'm convinced. I'm getting some grammodes. Well i have a bare-bottom 55g with a couple pots and plastic plants. I'm thinking i would get 4 babies or juveniles (2-3in). I plan on when they start to pair off, i would keep the pair and either sell the two others. So... any advice or info?

-Do you recomend dithers?(probably giant danio or convicts.)
-Prefered foods?
-I know they're slow growers, but how slow?

A half inch a month of growth is what I've experienced. My male likes market shrimp. They can be shy until they reach 6" or so. But they are definately a cool fish.

In My Experience, the best thing i can tell you is patience. I've had mine for about a 17-18months grew it from 2"-about 4.5-5". They can also be very skittish.

The Second is, at about 3-3.5" they get mean and territorial. Otherwise several posts and pictures are in this section too many members here have very, very nice grammodes.

lol yea i found some nice pictures and how they're agressive. Do you think 4 juvies would do well in a 55 till they paired off?

I've never fed any of my fish market shrimp, i'll have to try. thanks

Leave the shell on but cut off the tails. The shells have good nutrients in them and the tails could get lodged in the fishes' throat. Cut the shrimp into bite sized pieces.

Oh, and my male grammodes went from about 3.5" to almost 7" in 7 months. Patience is the key. They don't grow like Oscars, that's for sure.

I haven't tried that before but some other members have. I believe it's possible hopefully you'll get a pair out of it but i've heard many stories, and you've probably heard/read that 1+any number grammodes= 1 grammodes so that's something you may have to watch for.
