I'm 90% sure I have a Demasoni holding in my 55g. I've never had this before and have no experience raising fry at all. I noticed about 3 days ago, she had a bulge underneath her chin area and had stopped eating. I have two other Dems in that tank & I'm pretty sure I know who the daddy is.

My question is how tough is it to raise fry? I have an extra 5g tank that I could fill with sand and some lace rock to transport her too. The only worry I have is that she'll swallow the babies when I try to net her out of the tank. Or because the tank is not cycled, she may swallow while I'm trying to get it ready.

My tank is filled with a giant rock stack and there's millions of places for her to hide. I unsuccesfully tried to catch another fish in there for a few hours, so it's not easy.

I would love to raise some Demasoni fry but needed advice on how likely she would swallow if I tried to get her out & how difficult it would be?

Forgot to mention, if I do get her out successfully, do I not have to feed her at all for the duration of her time in the other tank? Should I do regular water changes or would that spook her?

Thanks in advance!

I started setting up my 5g because I've decided I'm going to try and get her into it.

One thing I wanted to ask was how fragile are the fry in terms of putting her in a tank that may not be fully cycled yet?

My plan was to take out media from my AC's (sponge & biomax) and put it into a little whisper filter and get her in to keep the bacteria alive. Could the fluctuation in parmas kill the fry easily?

I reccomend you let this one go and cycle a sponge filter in your main tank.Next time you want to save some fry,pop the sponge filter in the fry tank and you are ready to go.

Thanks for the advice, I've never used a sponge filter before. Can you recommend any of them?

brother, any sponge filter is good for the aquarium
only put it in the main aquarium
I currently have 150 small demasoni and still need to spawn several female

Got it, wow that's a lot of Dems, they're my fav AC, just wish they were so freakin intolerant of each other.

Sadly my female swallowed her fry, I'm sure they'll spawn again so I'll be ready with the other tank this time.
