I brought two home today, put them with other small juvies, they lasted less than 2 hrs b4 they were food. So, now I will go back, how do I judge what a 1.5, 2 inch managuense should look like. Any advice will be appreciated. I will put them in a grow out this time around by themselves.

there really is no way to tell how a jag that small will turn out, but usually good body shape and color as a baby will carry on to adulthood

If you put them in a tank by themselves they should be fine. Typically fish that small are not able to hold there own especially when first introduced with bigger fish. What other fish were they and size of tank? Good luck.

it will be a very difficult task in finding the right fish XD a juvenile managuense looks just like a juvenile dovii when young...and also many other cichlids like the umbee when very young...smaller than a 2". Go look around in the vendors sections and see if they have any juvenile for sale and or try aquabid.com....or other sights like liveaquaria.com
