My first post Hello Monster Keepers,
I would like to house afew monsters of my own but I need help on my first aro tank (silver, black, green, maybe a jardini but they are like demons with scales so im not sure about those guys yet.)
the tank : 6 2 2.5 210 gal
the filers : 2x ehiem 2260
Heaters : 2x 300w heaters
UV lighting : 2x 36w turbo twist Coralife lights flow rate 300min/900max
Pump : not sure what to use, I need help here but I need two
Hooking all this up...... this is where I am lost. I can afford to supply my future pets with everything they need but im not sure how to hook this all up like which connectors to get T connectors or elbow connectors. This is my first time buying a canister/uv set up for my tank. I hope I can get help here thanks. If u see something I am missing plz, any constructive criticism will help. Here is a photo of my tank.

yeah, i like the dog... good luck with that tank...

lol, this post was made for help on setting it up and u guys post about the dog.

setting up a tank is essential. its something someone does from experience over time. u jumped over the experience bar n dove in head first. whats the pump for when ur running 2 canisters? whats all the T's for when ur running canisters?

tank is good size
heaters should be good, depending on how cold it gets there
filters should work, but of course upgrading is gonna increase stability

I'm glad that you are getting into this hobby with a large tank.

Hooking up canisters wouldn't be too difficult. Check out the set up video on this link: http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/pfk/pages/item.php?news=1226

This isn't a same model but all canisters have basic design that are very similar. As far as UVs are concerned, you'll get an idea of how it works and should be installed after you run the canister for a while.

Lovely bulldog! Congrats!

It seem to me that the tank is a bit small for all those Aro's you mention. It seems more tallish than long or wide. Anwyway is will comfortably house one or 2 aro's, imo...

Aro's are slightly acidic and soft water fish ) I keep mine at around 6 PH and maintain soft water ( you will have to find out your water hardness, then we can talk longer about this issue ). I keep mine between 25 and 27º ( Celsius . don't know Fahrenheit ).

Start with 5 inch ones ( smaller are very fragile and prone to dying ). Buy 5 or 6 of them and put them together...

keep a very tight cover ( they jump through the tiniest space ).. Keep the well fed and leave a small light in the night ( not on the tank..on the room the tank is in ) they hate total darkness ( if such thing exists:)

Good luck, enjoy...keep us posted

it is not rocket science:)

Dont I need a pump for my coralife turbo twist 12x 36w uv sterilizer? Now I understand that I dont need any T's.

Last question. Is there a thread that talks about the most inexpensive places to buy online products on MFK like ReefCentral.com does?
