Ordered a 360 (96Lx36Wx24H) Glass Tank from fishtankfactory as well as a 30" MDF stand. Trying to find the most inexpensive way of transporting it from LA to Las Vegas. Best I could come up with is renting a 6' x 12' trailer from Uhaul and towing it with my dad's toyota sequoia. Of course I would take it extremely slow on the way back. Also the tank is 1/2 inch tempered glass all around and 3/4 inch tempered on the bottom.

Edit: forgot to add Ill be taking 2x king size memory foam bed toppers that are around 1.25" thick to buffer the tank and the stand from each other and the metal walls of the trailer. And tiedowns of course to make sure the tank and stand arent shifting around.

It sounds like a good plan to me. The tank is going to be so heavy that it won't move much in the back of the truck.

If you want to save a little money, you might try renting a truck from Home Depot instead of U-Haul. I know U-Haul charges mileage fee on top of an hourly fee, but Home Depot only charges an hourly fee. Plus I think they give some kind of discount if you keep it out for awhile and their hourly fee is cheaper. The only thing is that I'm not sure if the Home Depot trucks are long enough to fit that size tank. But you should call them anyway to make sure.

sounds like you got the travel part down. Have fun moving that sucker hahah twice as big as mine so im guessing its twice as heavy! Congrats on the awesome tank, Baller haha

The home depots in Las Vegas do the truck thing, but they dont allow overnight and I would have to return it by 7pm. As for the Uhaul thing, I am not renting a truck. I am renting a trailer that is going to be towed by a SUV. $30/day and I don't have to worry about mileage.

Yeah, that tank must weigh at least 700 lbs. empty. I hope you've got enough guys to help lift it each way.

I'll be picking it up from the factory, so they should have equipment to load it. Gonna offer my friends free beer + pizza to unload it and place it on sliders. Then I should be able to adjust it myself or with my brother.

I just priced this exact same tank from midwest custom acrylic. I can't wait to see pics. I'm also curious about the price difference between glass and acrylic...
