Hi, unfortunately, in defending his fry, the male wolf is very vicious, throwing himself at the glass in an attempt to scare anyone or anything that moves away. Trouble is that he has injured his eye on something, most likely a bit of wood. For a few days I noticed a small ring on the eye, with a slight indent. Today however I have noticed the whole eye to be clouding up and it is not looking too healthy. Furthermore I dont think he has total vision from that eye because when the bad eye is turned to me and I put my finger in front of the glass I get no reaction. As soon as he turns head on or with the other eye facing me its a different story.

Not had this problem before so I needed some advice. Is the clouding due to a bacterial infection in the eye? I am doing a very large water change at the moment, to help with the recovery. Do I need to add some medication, or maybe even separate him from the fry? Increase the temp? add salt? Has anyone had these symptoms in their fish before and did they recover? I don't know so any help appreciated.

Thanks

I am so sorry to hear that about your dovii :(, I am not sure what to do but I was talking to Freshwaterpredators and he has a festae that has a bad eye and he was telling me about some kind of med for it , so I would shoot him a pm, I am sure he'd be more then happy to help ya out . GL and keep us posted .

Thanks Cakilla. I'll try and find the thread, or if you can post the link that would be great.

O he didn't make a thread yet , but I was talking to him and we got to talking about his 7.5 inch male festae that has a bad eyeand he did have up for sale but he changed his mind after he found the website that you can get meds for it, not sure if it'll work but its worth a shot .

I will give him a call later ( still very early in alaska lol ) and I will ask him to jump on here and let ya know what the website is.

Also HAD to say that is an AMAZING pic you have for your avatar !!! I Love the fish thats closest to the top! I really like the shades of green :D

I have had fish get a cloudy looking eye from transport in a bucket and slamming the sides and it clears up in @ 5 days.

Ok cheers for your help, much appreciated. The fish at the top is this dovii with the bad eye's other half. The pic looks ok small, because you can't tell its blurred ;)

Thanks for the info, I'll have to wait and see. The eye has been damaged for about 3 days, but it is only today I noticed it turned cloudy.

The fry were eating the damaged lens, so I have moved him into a 75 gallon alone. It is very difficult to get antibiotics as you need a prescription by law to get antibiotics and not many vets will give them for fish. I hope he doesn't lose the eye, but it is in a very bad way right now.
