Hey MFK I need some input from you. College is not to down the road, and I need to start planning for the future. I know I want to do something fish related or at least water related for a living in the future. My parents and I have began to sit down and consider what I want to do, and look for colleges that offer good programs relating to aquatic work. From you guys I would like some ideas on what would be a good occupation for my interest. Please tell me any jobs you think would interesting to me, what a good thing to major in for that occupation, and any colleges that you know off that have good aquatic!fish related programs. I would like to get an idea on this stuff because I know their are many occupations and colleges out there, and I would like to start narrowing things down and explore options deeper. Any suggestions would be very appreciated so feel free to comment .

You could start by interning at an aquarium or scientific research facility. Or you could work at an LFS. For a career i say maybe LFS owner(not too profitable) or you could have an online lfs business on the side.

If you are wanting a gov job, start volunteering at wildlife department facilities. Down here it is high competition and low demand so you need every boost you can get early on.

Yea I was thinking lfs owner but I know it's not the profitable and U feel like it would make me lose my passion for fish. I was thinking some kind of fish scientist, or ichthyologist. Keep the suggestions coming though please

Well if you're planning on working for a degree your best bet would be zoology or biology. Once you figure out which one you can look into jobs that fit you. I'm personally still struggling to decide which to go for, right now I'm at a community college finishing up my general ed classes.

duanes job... it applies to the hobby but is different.. and unlike the hobby it pays the bills. I always wanted to be a Zookeeper, Vetrinarian or own a pet shop ect.. until I grew up and realized it is in no way as "great" as it appears to be. Be sure whatever you want to focus on you learn the worst of it.. because the best of it will only happen if you can accept/deal with the worst of it. Don't ask what the best part of the job is.. ask what the worst part is.
