Advise for cleaning filter intakes

I have seem to run into a problem that when I had java moss and it died about 2 months ago and still dealing with left overs on intake tubes along with dead anarcharis leaves what would be the best way to clean them without getting all the leaves and moss floating around.

Get a pipe cleaner that's a little bigger than your tube. Attach a string to it, something fairly robust like dental floss. Make sure it's on there tight.

Start a siphon with the tube so you can thread your line down the tube without it getting caught in the filter. Grab hold and pull the pipe cleaner through. viola, clean tubes.
