I just got a 150g tank with this configuration.

Here is what I currently have available to use.

Eheim 2028 Pro II
Eheim 2026 Pro II
Emp400 HOB Filter
Maxijet 1200 Powerhead

I'm planning on doing waterchanges once a week. I am hoping MFK ballers can advise if this is the best way to set up with what I have.

1. Would this be sufficient for a moderately stock 5'x2'x2' tank?

2. Do you guys think this is the best way to setup my two canisters with the intake where it is in the picture?

3. Should I upgrade to one FX5 running alongside an Eheim 2028 Pro II?

I would move the outputs further apart. One on one side of the tank and then the other on the opposite side with the HOB in the middle.

The manufacturer refused to cut openning in the middle for the HOB due to compromissing the security of the acrylic tank. This was the configuration they recommended to avoid the tank from bowing or crazing.

yes, it should be sufficient.

I think you will be fine with the two eheims and the HOB. you probably won't see a real advantage to one FX5 vs 2 smaller canisters IMO. if anything, two canisters might be a bit more versatile than one larger one.

as far as the configurations of the intakes and outputs are concerned, can you draw a diagram or take a pic of the top of the tank so we can see what spaces are available?

Going from the pic you put up I would have the intakes on both ends of the tank on the left side and have a powerhead from the right side direct all debris and crap towards them BUT it may not be practical and a bit of an eye sore.

This is not to say your setup as it is will not work

I agree, if you are bound by this setup i think it will work for you just fine!

Yeah if the holes are already drilled just keep it the way it is. Go with Loc-Line on your lower return so you can adjust the return direction if needed. Obviously you want to keep the return flow away from the intake. You can even Y the return so you can push water in two different directions. After a month or so you will see where the poo settles, just direct the loc-line to that area. I love using canister filters just for this reason.

i almost got the same on my 125. mine has two eheim 2028 proII and two AC110

My current setup has two Emp400 and Eheim 2028 Pro II. I was going to run two Emp400 but I thought it was not necessary. Plus, it's always a pain to clean them when it clogs.

what is a loc-line?

I think you got it right where it will be the most efficient...
given the layout of the slot for the HOB...
The slot is already cut for the HOB. I cannot move the HOB but I can move the intake and exit around. I was just wondering which work best.

So you put both intakes on the left and have both exit on the right? this would increase the house length for the exit. Wouldn't I loose head pressure pushing the water out?
