found that my hang on filter stopped working. I had an extra one laying around but it has never been used. Anything I need to worry about putting a new filter system on a tank thats been running for 7 weeks?

Just want to make sure I dont kill off my aro.

Thanks,
Ray

How long was the existing filter down? If it was for more than a few hours, it's likely the water inside is toxic. You'll want to pour out the water and thoroughly rinse your old media before using it again. Typically you would want to use your old media to "seed" the new filter...but maybe not in this case.

You've got some established BB in your tank (substrate, structure, etc). I would put the new filter on and get it going. Keep an eye on parameters since you'll most likely go through a mini cycle until the new filter gets established.

Good luck...

from what I can fig, the filter was down for no more then an hour. Set up the new filter and have been waiting my aro for the last hour. everything looks good so far.
