Well, my micro is doing great, so I need to start thinking of a bigger tank.
I have just bought a house and I got a room i can use for my tanks. Not the biggest room, but it's a fish room!:headbang2
Now, the tank i am looking at, at the moment is 8x3x2 or a 6x3x2, I do realize that they may be rather small for a micro, but i can't space wise fit a larger tank in the room, so it has to be one of the above mentioned.

What i really want to ask, is how would you guys decorate a tank for a mirco?
I really dislike bare bottom tank's, though they may have advantages, but they are not my style.

What i had in mind was, having something like reeds in a corner, together with a few small roots, some solitary plants and some floating plants for cover.
I realize that you have to balance the need for swimming space against decorations..so what advise do you guys have?:)

Cheers

hi mate go for the biggest you can afford and with an emphisis on the width mainly . for decoration i would use water lettuce on the surface , and for the ground i would use some vallis giant at each end so it grows upto the surface and along the surface ,in the rast i would just use amazon swords as they are quite hardy and really cheep if you need to replace them from time to time , i would look out for some sumartran bogwood or redmoore as the branches are really thin if you pick some good peices the fish will be able to swim though it still , also remember micros slow down a lot as they get and swim far less.
i would say as long as you go 3ft wide you should be good , obviously the 8x3 would be the best choice and as you only need to buy it once i would certainly wait until i had the extra money to get the 8x3 rarther than settle for the 6x3 .

good luck with whatever you go with , i cant wait to see it up and running ,if you pull it off its going to be awsome

cheers col

Thanks for the advise tropheus!

As for the tank, a 8x3x2 is obviously the best choice and right now I am trying
to find a used one...a new one is a wee bit expensive!
