I need tips, they used to laye eggs and the eggs will hatch in my community tank. but no fries survive, and when my arowana grew, they stopped laying eggs, because they were stressed by my arowana,
now i have moved them into a 120 gallon tank by themselves, they have been in the tank for 2-3 weeks now. the breeding tubes are out and their color has intensified, but so far no egg laying yet :( Also they keep on lip locking. I tried to do a 30% water change but so far still no eggs.
any tips? btw my male is about 5 years old i think and female about 3 already? will they still be able to breed? or are they too old?

They're still young and your tanks look great. The only thing I've noticed about severums is that they start a fight, can't finish it, and then THEY are the stressed ones! (I've met some people like that).
I hit mine with fresh worms (wigglers) and hit them hard (not quite "all you can eat" and then knocked off of the food for two or three days. She egged up with all that extra protein and away they went!

Try adding some decorations to the tank. It may make them more comfortable to spawn.

My best luck was a 50% water change with say 70 degree water and then bump the heater up to 82. Let it rise up. This is a good time of year, wait for a big front to move through and do it right then. Also some dither fish are helpful for aggression and makes them less flighty but will certainly cut down on the number of fry after a few days.

thanks :) Found some eggs last night, but the eggs have turned white :( not sure if its because of the water condition or they were just not fertilized.
I'll feed them with some live foods to see if they'll lay some more eggs :D

Fungus on the eggs probably means they did not get fertilized but if the temp is high enough fungus can takeover and kill good eggs, you can add some m-green/blue right to the tank to help curb this, salt works too but not for amazonians.
