Need advise with this severum please, This was givem to me by my friend.
i gave this to him about 5 years ago when it was still a fry.
This piece is not in good condition, as he's quite thin and refused to eat.

i currently have him in a 15 Gallon quarantine/hospital tank

forehead is quite thin and he's quite lethargix, swimming slowly like just floating?

Any suggestions as to what i should treat him for? I would like to put him into my main tank if i can get him healthy again.

The tank is very small and very open. He is probably very stressed due to his current living conditions. I would put some sort of structure in the tank in the hope that it could lower his stress levels. You can also cover up all the sides of the tank so that the fish cannot see out. After that you can bring the temp to around 84 deg. Fahrenheit and offer some live food like clean earthworms or black worms.

Lastly what are your water parameters and do you have any salt in the aquarium?

thanks :)
i dosed the tank with clout and found some powery white stuff on the tank floor, not sure what it is, but the fish looks better as he's more active now.

I'll try to test the water parameters later. but i've been doing 50% daily wc.

Do try as best you can to get your water tested, the results would make it much easier to help you. If you’re doing daily water changes of that size chances are you won’t find much through a water test though. The tank is still a bit small. The build up on your tank bottom is most likely just additional medication that fell to the bottom of the tank.

Clout is effective if your problem is a parasite or protozoan, but he appears to have some cloudy eyes. I would have thought a broad spectrum antibiotic geared more towards bacterial infections would have been a better idea. You’re saying he is looking better and it can be a one shot treatment. I would wait and after 24 hours, do a 25% water change like directed and add carbon. Let the filter run with carbon for one day, this will remove any traces of the previous medication. After the day do a 25% water change and take the carbon out. I would then do a treatment on the tank with a more wide range antibiotic like erythromycin. Make sure the tank is well circulated and well aerated.

I’m glad to hear he is doing better, the reason I always suggest salt, clean water, more space and temperature is because if problems are caught early enough changing the following can reverse many conditions and are not very harsh on your fish. Adding a medication like erythromycin can be tough on your fish, even a healthy one. Best of luck buddy

thanks :) just found out from my firend this fish is blind :(
he did not tell me it was blind before :(
Thats why it swims funny and does't eat . was told this fish got eye infection before and is blind. Imight be returning it to him, as its hard to take care of. and i can't put it into my main tank as this won't survive:(
