Going to re-do my pond soon. I figure to make bigger and deeper? Currently 5x7 and 12" deep. Looking to go 8x8 and 20" deep. What do you think? Any easy way to do this?

Buy several shovels...a box of burger patties...keg-O-suds...
Post a date and order a few "door prizes" for helpers...LOL

hmm I do have a excavator I can dig it 10' deep if ya want... I would go deeper if it was me...atleast 2' deep.... o and get some smaller shovels too put the boys to work....

In Juysey? Any place you dig that deep you are liable to hit some chemical dump or someone buried.

:ROFL::ROFL: They know about Jersey in Israel :ROFL::ROFL:

I wouldnt dig around in the pond. I would extend. Like make it 3 foot deep in another section. So it would be a 5x1x7 pond, with a 4x3x4 additon on it.

What kind of fish are you planning to keep in the pond Alex? Or will there be any fish at all? Down here in TN we make our ponds a minimum of 6' deep. This insures that the fish don't freeze up in the winter. I know of ponds in Jersey where the fish survive the winters because they are deep.

Currently there are 5 koi. They made it thru a cold winter with me not preping anything. The pond is 12-14 inches & froze. The fish were fine when it thawed. I will place the fish in a 40gal tank until the spring. I intend to start digging next month:screwy:
