I got some fish at an auction labeled "aequidens latifrons" but the bag was smudged so i may have gotten it wrong. two of them paired off and have been going into/out of a hollow breeding rock for the last couple weeks. yesterday I had hundreds of fry that the parents were vigilantly guarding. they are in a 120 with a few eatheaters and silver dollars.

I was hoping someone would be able to positively identify the species. the fins are edged with white and they both have very egg-shaped bodies. they are only about 3-4".

also, is there anything special I should do for them? I've turned off the powerheads but am still running an xp3. I was thinking about moving them to a 29 but I think it would be a major hassle. Thanks for the info, this is my first time with fry.

They don't look like pulcher, coeruleopunctatus, or spec. 'atabapo' ... latifrons look to be a good guess. Beautiful fish, I love the dark breeding colors, it really shows of the white/silver lining and blue spots.

As long as there is enough room for your other fish to stay out of the way, I'd leave them be.
