I recently picked up this little guy, he was labeled as a Green acara - Aequidens Metae.

I was hoping for an Aequidens Metae, but my guess is that it's a green terror. Hard to tell because at this size every Aequidens sp. are lookalikes. Colours are a bit flushed out because i've been trying to get a good pic for atleast 20 minutes now and he's camera shy. The other fish in there is a blue acara, they're both in quarantine for now.

It’s definitely an Andinoacara. Not sure if it’s Pulcher but it definitely isn’t a Metae.

It is not Aequidens as mrrobxc mrrobxc pointed out, but Andinoacara. One of the blue acara complex. My guess is that it's either A. pulcher or A. latifrons.

Aequidens metae is known as the Yellow Acara, not a green acara. Some people also call Bujurquina vittata the Yellow Acara or Yellow Banded Acara. But this is why common names are confusing and inaccurate in most cases.

Alright, thanks! I know that Aequidens metae is known as yellow acara, but this LFS labeled them as "green acara - Aequidens metae" and I hoped that they made a mistake with the common name. I've been searching for a metae ever since I sold mine, and so the search continues.

I'm from The Netherlands, unless i'm buying 2000 dollars worth of fish it ain't worth the hassle and extra costs to ship them. There's this LFS (still a 2hish drive) who usually imports really interesting high quality cichlids. Might give them a call this week.
