Aequidens Metae

Picked this little guy up earlier in the week. Had one a few years ago and really love this species very happy i found it.

Right now its sharing a 75 gal with a couple of bichirs and the heterospilus.

Some time next week or the week after the het and metae will move to a 150 with 10 small heterospilus growouts.


The introduction and chase lol was really all for nothing the het did a whole lof of gill flaring and posturing tjen things settled down.

Yes yellow acaras. I was just passing through the lfs, browsing. Saw it and did a double take because i have never seen one on an lfs. I got mine from rapps and havent seen it offered since

Absolutelyfish was passing through nj that day. Only time ive ever seen metae in a shop in nj or ny was the one i traded in a few yrs back lol.

The shops in DE are total garbage except just fish in bear. It has a pretty cool selection almost has a shark aquarium feel to it but on a smaller scale

Can yoy recommend anything a little further north but not as far as NJ ? Ever been to capt nemos ?

That's my main store. They have revamped quite a bit. Owners are great guys.

Aquarium center in southern NJ is legit. Hidden reef and Fish Factory are hit and miss. The other shops are worth a visit every so often but they aren't destinations in there own right.

Personally, my main stops are Captain Nemos (now called Natural Pet), Aquarium Center, the hidden reef, fish factory, and Monster Pets in south philly. In that order.

Interestingly enough, the guy who runs the fish room at the monster pets in south philly is a hobbyist and he brings in rare stuff pretty regularly lately. It's also really close to a good cheesesteak/pork sandwich spot.
