So I'm a total beginner when it comes to planted tanks and in planning on starting one with easy to care for and low light plants (not planning on using co2 just yet).

I was just curious- will having an air stone for the fish kill the plants since oxygen is basically their waste product?

Fish produce co2 at all times but plants only really utilize them when the lights are on aka photosynthesis so a bubbler at night with lights off is good, it aerates and provides agitation and gas exchange!

I run co2 when lights are on and bubbles when lights click off.

Not problem. Just run them as you would co2 wise. Also make sure your filter isn't creating to much agitation as that's basically the same. A planted tank you want smooth flow but lights off bubbles till they turn back on.
