I have a 135gal tank and would like some affordable lighting (less than $100). Currently, there is a 48" florescent shop light that houses 2 bulbs but the color of the light is very dull and does not show the fishes real colors. I was wondering if there was something out there that you guys think gives off a great color and isn't as expensive as a halide fixture. Thanks in advance.

change the bulbs, simple as that! no need for a new fixture :)

50/50 is the best ive ever used. right now im using "aquarium bulbs" made by philips. i got em at home depot for 10 bucks haha

lol, have the same ones on my grow out tank, kinda a peachy/pink glow lol. i had a tank with a home depot 4' shop light with 50/50's for years and it looked great(painted it black) or atleast it looked great to me especially seein how i had about 20 bucks in it including the paint.

I agree, powerglos are nice, quite blue compared to many bulbs though. I wish I could put a T5HO fixture on my GT tank without creating an algae swamp, but oh well.

awesome, thanks guys, I will look into these
