I'm in the position of obtaining a 12" African Arowana and I was wondering if they eat small fish? I was going to try placing it in a large (100+) community tank for a while. My concern is that the loaches in the tank might become Aro-food. All the videos I've watched just show them swimming around sucking little bits of food up, but I don't know if that filter-feeding would apply to other fish as well.

Any insight would be appreciated, thanks!

in my experience, african aros were chill with other fish but hated my other aros,my old 1 around 15"-18" it could eat a full superworm which is like 2"-2.5" long i doubt it could fit anything bigger

I just gave my 12" afrowana away to a friend because after about 2 months in with 10x of the small baby indos that are going around he started getting aggressive towards the youngsters- nothing serious, but chasing them and turning them unstable- it was a pretty impressive looking group when there was harmony between a 12" afrowana and 10x 3-bar, stable, 1/2" indos

It doesn't seem to eat other fishes, though it may attempt to.
Feeding it blood worms or pellets will be fine.
