How long could an african arowana stay in a 100L (72x18x19)? I realize it would outgrow it. I'm just trying to find a time frame to see if it's feasible.

100g? I would say don't bother if it is 100L (26g). If it 100g, I would say maybe until it gets to 14"

He meant 100 gallon Long.

from what i have been told you will be lucky to keep it alive more than 2 weeks in any size tank they are ment to be very hard to take care of

im trying to get hold of a 10inch + one right now as i have been told they are easyer to take care of at that size

Thanks WyldFya. You are correct. It is a 100 gallon long. That's why I gave the measurements (shoulda probably put in that it was inches)

Roughly how long do you think it would take to reach the 14" mark? I generally test the water every couple days and do at least a 50% water change every week, so water quality is usually real good.

I think it would be better if oddball answered these questions. I have never kept african, just silvers. That was an estimate based on my experience

Mine hit 8" in 4 months and 14-15 inches at the one year mark. A 100 GAL with really good filtration and regular maintenance should do one fine for it's first year to nearly 1.5 years. Keep a weighted lid or canopy on the tank. At this size they can jump easily past the standard glass lids for a 100gal.

Wow, I had no idea they would grow that fast. I may still give it a shot. I have no problems upgrading to a bigger tank. That would allow me to get some of the bigger poly's too.
