african brown knife tank mates qustion

I know that abk's can be housed with other abk's or so I've been told but I have several questions I am planing for a 75 when I upgrade
1 can abk's be introduced as adults or only when young
2 could they be housed with an O or a sevrum chichlid

The fish that WILL be living in this tank are at least 1 abk one normal senegal and one albino senegal and probably my blue gourami and possibly a Raphael cat but he may stay in the 20

I see no problem with a severum at all. I kept mine back in the day with a severum and never had a problem. in fact, i never have a problem with keeping anything with sevs lol. just a good fish IMO

oscars would be hit or miss depending on how much of a bully it was. I would have a feeling most oscars would probably just leave the knife alone. I have seen bgk's kept with oscars (friend did it) so I would think a abk would be ok as well. just give it somewhere to hide

I agree with dbcb in regards to putting abk's sevs--mine's in a tank with 5. They just ignore "her" and chase one another. In regards to an Oscar, I wouldn't trust it; I think it would see a brown as prey. But as always, it depends on the individual O's personality and size--if the knife is full-grown, it has more chance to get out of harm's way. Just give it some places to hide. Personally, I wouldn't risk it.
