Hey guys sorry im a first time user but I have a serious question. I have a male Jewel Cichlid and overall hes probably a few months old. His health has been absoulty great up until a few days ago.. he is lathargic and stays near the bottom, I havent seen him eat recently and he seems to have gone a sickly blue colour unlike his natural pink, ive even seen what i assume to be spasms.. his female seems to be babying him.. I have an external filter on my tank, and a decent heater I use nutrafin cycle and have lots of different foods for them, ive tried parasite gaurd by tetra and have even changed water and replaced it with distilled :/ I have four other smaller chiclids plus him and a pleco who minds his own..and six live plants. im really upset and afraid im gunna lose the litte guy any help would be more than greatly appreciated!!!!Thanks Liam

What are the other 4? And hoe much of the water did you change? Any pics or video? Maybe check the heater to see if there's a short in the water?

Im temporarily out of stuff to test my PH so im headed to find a pool strip and see what it says but my ammonia is reading 0.25 - 0.50 ppm.. water changes about every three weaks.. only one noticably bad the female is starting to show slight similiar effects and the rusty's are occasionally at the top gulping air but only for 5-10 seconds then they continue on happily and my demasoni is just lovely.. if this helps at all the two jewels do breed and have laid eggs five times hatched them once and ate the eggs the other times? not sure how helpful that is.. heres picture proof of ammonia103_0904.JPG
Noticing spasms where he kind of u turns as im currently watching him almost as if hes trying to throw something off his back?
Thanks every one

Do a water change now(30%), try to do this every three days until ammonia hits 0. Did you accidentally kill of the bacterias?
