How many african cichlids should I buy to initially start a breeding colony?

actually, I wouldn't mind breeding some fronts. But I don't really care... as long as it's something that's not completely impossible

best for breeding usually an alpha male then a beta male incase anything happens to the first then as many females as possible

its not so much how old as much as how big, for example lemon yellows breed at like a inch and a half, 2 inches

Ive never kept front but im pretty sure they have to be a more reasonable size to breed

minimum of 12 then start weening them down from there need to have enough to make sure you get females i start with 20 but atleast 12

yer but just so u know they take a good few years to reach sexual maturity

try melanochromis auratus. they seem to breed pretty easily.
