African cichlid care in south Florida

I have seen several videos of folks in south Florida keeping African cichlids in fish ponds.
My question is...How?
Can they handle the few "coldish" nights we have every winter?
(Upper 40s.)
And how do I heat my pond?
It's a 1,500 gallon in ground.

You can heat your pond with a submersible water trough heater.
Commonly used for horse and cattle.
Sold at farm & ranch stores.
