Friend brought over a 5 inch blue African cichlid that he picked up as an adoption from petco today. Said they told him it was the meanest fish they had because two previous owners brought it back due to its anger management issues in their tanks. Told me he wanted me to keep it with my 4, 5-6inch, RBP's and that it should live with them. Needless to say it was a good addition to their feeding schedule cause it only lasted an hour and a half... moral of the story, if a friend buys you dinner don't turn it down...

Anyone else ever try acclimating these with their schoals? I imagine that cichlids are comparably aggressive to oscars, and i've heard that those actually can live for some time with rbp...

my convicts lived with my rb's for a while. when they were about equal size the convicts would actually bully the rb's. Eventually they ate the male, then a few weeks later the female. I still have a couple quarter inch size convicts in my rb tank and also my rhoms tank. started with a ton, down to a couple in each.

i have many convicts w/ my rhom, with the help of their speed and all the hiding spots i have in the tank they are still enjoying their lives. I got 12 oscars 5-8" from petsmart and there's only one (the biggest one) left.

thanks for the news flash, i was reffering to the blue african cichlid i had compaired to the oscar, they are clearly two seperate species and body shaped which would alter their agility/speed in the water and being two different species would alter their aggression levels i'm sure..

Wow.

Don't get so offended. I was merely replying to your statement:
