:iagree:

I have heard of people keeping Zebra Danios with mbuna so I tried it for an hour and wound up putting my Danios back into there old tank because the cichlids were keeping them all at the surface of the water. every time one of the danios would leave the surface my female Electric Yellow (the one in my picture) would chase it around the tank about 2 laps till the danios were all back at the surface.

Unfortunately, the most compatible tankmates for african cichlids are....other african cichlids (and more specifically, other compatible african cichlids since they are a highly diverse group of fish). Various types of scavengers, if compatible, will also work with them). With that said, people have kept african cichlids with other types of fish (and with various degrees of success). The reason being their aggressive and territorial behavior.

I have three Synodontis Petricola in my tank with my mbuna. A lot of people keep syno catfish without problems, they like the high Ph.
