I figured I would post this here because I'am unsure what else to put in my 300gal, here is the stocklist right now. 4 5'' African Pike, 2 delhezi, 2 short body endis, 3'' Frontosa seven stripe. I want to add like 2-3 african cichlids that pay my african pikes no attention like my frontosa. I had tried to put a jewel in there but it kept bothering my pike and chasing the frontosa. I need some suggestions for other cchlid tankmatesi

I would get more fronts. They tend to do better in groups with one male to 4-5 females. A whole colony of frontosa is quite a site to see.

But I thought these frontosa get like 16'', is there anything else sort of like frontosa because this one I have is extremely peaceful

Well yeah they get large but they are pretty peaceful naturally and they grow slowly. You said you had a 300 gallon. That's plenty of room.

Thanks guys, ok so just fronts. Can I just get two more, there so small at 3'' I can't tell male from female but they all are nice looking fish, I actually wanted some different types of large mellow african fish but I guess Fronts is my answer

I agree some more fronts or maybe 3 to 4 Acies would look great in with the mix also. Just keep it more female than male

i suggest some large haps
from malawi
that arent too aggressive.
but more fronts is a good idea
i suggest Zaire Moba blue
because IMO they tend to grow slower and are also a bit more peaceful
atleast in my tank

Depends what you want to do.
does mixing lakes bother you?
does mixing regions bother you?
how much you want to spend?

300 is a nice size tank, and things that would not work in a 55 or a 125 work much better in a 300 behavior wise.

If sticking with Tanganyika.
6-8 frontosa.
4-6 Benthochromis tricotti.
5-6 kilesa, for the bottom, males get 6 inches, the females may get picked off by adult frontosa.
6-8 synodontis multipunctatus.
then for color either some leluipi or Astatotilapia burtoni ( a victorian like fish that is found around the swamps around Tanganyika.

If willing to mix lakes.
6-8 frontosa.
5-8 C. moori, or better yet, Placidochromis phenochilus for the blues.
6-8 electric yellows for the yellows.
4-6 Albino Eureka Reds for the red/orange.
3 snow white socoloffi for white.
5-6 Synodontis multis.
you may get some nipping by the yellows and socoloffi against the frontosa, maybe not, personality varies alot.

If willing to mix regions.
6-8 frontosa.
5-7 red head tapajo's, or something easier to find such as Gold Severum, i know some for sale cheap large.
4-5 Pin stripe Damba from Madagascar.
some Synodontis.
a nice big sunshine pleco, a nice big L 024 scarlet pleco.
